The history of this city would take you back some 6000 years when the Hopi Indians (Native Americans) had settled in this particular area. Those who prefer activities to sight-seeing also have plenty to enjoy – there are tennis courts, excellent golf courses, hiking and trekking trails and so on. Though it sounds pretty immodest, the Arizona tourism has been able to successfully promote this industry and today there are more than 3 million visitors annually coming to visit the city of Sedona.
A Vacation in Arizona
Sedona is not the only attraction in Arizona – rather one of the very many. You can have a wonderful vacation in this state taking into account that you would find here some of the finest parks of the country intermingled with history and ancient civilizations' legends. Check out the Shallow Caves which date back to around 1300 AD. Then there is the Montezuma Castle which is an impressive five storied building build some 600 years ago by and for the Sinagua Indians. Today both of these structures are declared part of national heritage and they continue to bear silent testimony of the seamlessly coming together of two total different cultures and ways of living.
Another must-see is The Canyon de Chelly which shows the ruins of the Native Americans who lived in this very place about 350 to 1300 AD. Overall, Arizona is an amazing destination.
