Denver Tourism and Side Trips

If you are considering visiting the beautiful state of Colorado you might want to begin your adventure by flying into Denver. While in Denver, you should consider taking a guided tour of the city. Most tours include Denver tourism destinations such as Larimer Square, the LoDo, the Molly Brown House, the state capitol and also the Four Mile Historic State Park. A tour can be taken by a tour bus and completed in a half day or perhaps you might want to see more of the sites and take a full day tour.

Walking Tour

Most Denver tourism experts suggest when taking a walking tour of Denver you make sure you visit the Civic Center which includes a Greek amphitheatre, several fountains, attractive statutes, and a beautiful flower garden. Take some time to visit the Colorado History Museum which will give you a good review of the history of the area. A very popular Denver tourism destination is the Denver Art Museum which many consider to be an architectural wonder. Another popular Denver tourism destination is the United States Mint building which was built in an Italian Renaissance style and was constructed in 1904. Larimer Square is Denver's oldest commercial district and features restored late eighteen hundreds Victorian style buildings. Take some time to visit the D&F Tower which is considered to be a Denver landmark and was designed to resemble the campanile of St. Marks's Basilica located in Venice Italy.

Denver tourism professionals highly recommend you visit the beautiful and historic Brown Palace Hotel which was built in 1892 and possesses a nine story atrium lobby which includes a beautiful Tiffany stained glass ceiling. While you are there enjoy lunch at one of the several restaurants located at the hotel or perhaps you would enjoy drinking tea at the elegant lobby located in the historic hotel.

Side Trips

A typical tour will led you to the beautiful mountain parks in the vicinity of Denver including Red Rock, Bergen and the tour will usually include a visit to Buffalo Bill's grave located on Lookout Mountain. Most of the tours will also include a visit to the famous Coors Brewery.

For those of you that are adventurous, Denver does offer a few professionally guided bicycle tours and hiking tours through beautiful scenery. One tour offers a hut to hut tour that starts and ends in Vale, which is located about one hundred miles outside of Denver. The tour offers quite a few opportunities for rafting and hiking. A week long trip can be taken along the beautiful Colorado trail which begins in Denver and finishes in Durango. Denver tourism offers plenty to see and plenty of activities.
